Contributed to China &#8220;Medical Missionary Journal,&#8221; vol. ii, No. 1.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Preface<\/h3>\n<p>It was on the early morning of Easter Day 1888 that, after thirteen years of active service in China, Dr. Mackenzie was suddenly called to rest from his labours.<\/p>\n<p>During this time he had been used by God in a wonderful way to overcome the great prejudice existing in China against Western medical science, and was the means of founding and conducting the first Government medical school in the Empire.<\/p>\n<p>His labours, indeed, had no small share in giving that impetus towards foreign methods in medicine and surgery which has of late been so noticeable.
