Considered one of the most enterprising of modern missionaries, he is  credited in large measure for the marked success and rapid growth of the  Christian church in India. Indeed, many urgent\n requests, from both friends and strangers, in Europe, Asia, and \nAmerica, have been received, that at the earliest date another such \ncollection should be issued.
